Longtime leader Wayman still a spokesman for electronics industry Wayman The Consumer Electronics Association recently recognized the 50th anniversary of Jack Wayman's groundbreaking tenure with the group. Wayman—still sharp and colorful at 91 and a spokesman for the sector—is credited with helping build consumer electronics into a $203 billion industry from its origins in radios, phonographs and later, TVs. He joined the Electronic Industries Association—predecessor to CEA—on Sept. 1, 1963, as director of its consumer products division. Previously, he had been a sales manager for RCA.
